After almost five years of train catering development in Europe, more than 20 projects in different countries, such as Germany, France, Belgium, Italy and Spain, I have had the pleasure of organizing and participating in LSG Sky Chefs’ first European Train Conference.
This was an ideal occasion to bring to the same table my colleagues from all over Europe who already deal with train catering, whether from an operational or sales and business development perspective. During our workshop, we took the time to look back on our achievements. In France we provide our services to thello and iDTGV. Out of our unit in Brussels, we cater SNCB and Thalys.
Offering customized and innovative concepts to train operators, presenting attractive products (be it complimentary or for sale), taking care of the whole travel chain, including crew management, and plenty of dedication and commitment from the team are the most important ingredients in our recipe for success. Honestly, collecting all this information was quite impressive and made me proud of what we have achieved. I think that my colleagues also were quite excited about this and feel honored to be part of LSG Sky Chefs’ train community.
With the objective of discussing how to position LSG Sky Chefs as the market leader in this segment, we introduced our Key Account Management plan to our train community. A personal highlight for me was a deep-dive into future business opportunities to keep an ear on the rail tracks. The 18 participants split into groups and brainstormed about case studies that may occur within the next 12 to 18 months, resulting in innovative and ready-to-use sales reference tool. This was effective, great team work and fun!
