Neu-Isenburg, Germany – LSG Sky Chefs is participating in InnoTrans for the first time this year. InnoTrans is the leading transport technology trade fair being held in Berlin, Germany, September 18-21.
LSG Sky Chefs already holds the number one position in travel catering throughout Europe. Beyond its 70 years of experience in airline catering, encompassing a customer base of more than 300 international airlines, the company has also been providing services to rail companies. These include SJ (Swedish Railroad) in the Swedish cities of Gothenburg, Malmo and Stockholm since 2005, and the Thello night trains between Paris, France and Venice, Italy since December 2011.
With its presence at InnoTrans, LSG Sky Chefs aims to establish new contacts with train companies, suppliers and partners. Its portfolio for the industry is represented by high-quality, innovative products and services made for a new generation of high-speed trains. It focuses on customized onboard concepts to enhance the traveller’s journey, including catering, equipment and logistics, revenue generation opportunities and much more.
Giammarco Paronitti, LSG Sky Chefs’ Manager Train Division, said: “The train services sector is the most comparable market to the airline services industry, so we can effectively apply our core competencies in food and logistics for the benefit of both train companies and passengers. The train industry is currently going through a transformation with the introduction of modern high-speed trains and the market entry of new operators, so we believe this is the right moment for us to enter in the market. We are very proud to be exhibiting our expertise at InnoTrans 2012 and look forward to expanding our visibility within the industry.”
LSG Sky Chefs’ train division provides an entire range of services including the supply of nearly 3 million meals a year to train operators in Europe. In 2011, with 6 exclusive train service centers operating in France, Italy and Sweden, LSG Sky Chefs’ train division reached revenues of 35 million.
