LSG Sky Chefs honors global partnerships @ WTCE

First Sino-foreign joint venture celebrates its 35th anniversary

Neu-Isenburg / Hamburg, Germany – LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest provider of in-flight services, is celebrating its extensive partnerships around the globe during this year’s World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE), April 14 -16 in Hamburg.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of Beijing Air Catering Co., Ltd., the first Sino-foreign joint venture established in Beijing, China, in 1980. Today, the partnership between the Air China Group, Hong Kong Maxim’s Group and LSG Sky Chefs, is one of the world’s largest catering enterprises delivering around 90,000 meals to more than 500 flights per day. In order to mark the occasion, Beijing Air Catering representatives are on-site at the LSG Sky Chefs’ WTCE booth.

“We can proudly say that we were the industry pioneer in entering the Chinese and Russian markets as early as the 1980s,” said Jochen Müller, Chief Operating Officer. “Since then, LSG Sky Chefs has continued to seek new opportunities, wherever they arise, by combining our global expertise with the local market access of our partners. Each of those joint ventures is a success story in itself.”

Currently, LSG Sky Chefs has joint ventures in Angola, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Egypt, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Nigeria, Portugal, Russia, South Korea, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom and 17 countries in Latin America, comprising more than 100 locations that generate non-consolidated revenues of more than one billion euros.

WTCE is the leading global event for travel catering, onboard retail and passenger comfort. It was launched in 2012 and has enjoyed double-digit growth rates in terms of exhibitors and visitors year after year. The WTCE is co-located with Aircraft Interiors Expo, the world’s largest tradeshow for aircraft interiors and inflight entertainment.
