LSG Sky Chefs and Thomson Airways Extend Contract

Neu-Isenburg, Germany – Thomson Airways, one of the world’s largest leisure airlines, has extended its longstanding relationship with LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest provider of in-flight services, with a new catering contract running until 2015. The airline carries 10 million customers per year from 21 UK and Irish airports.

The new agreement sees LSG Sky Chefs providing a retail buy-on-board operation for all of Thomson Airways’ short and mid haul flights as well as meals on long haul flights. In addition to food services, it also includes the provision of dry stores, crew meals, bar provisioning and the warehousing management of duty free/bonded goods.

Nigel Ames, Head of Inflight Product & Continuous Improvement for Thomson Airways, says: “Thomson Airways recently modernised the onboard service on short and mid haul flights and introduced a new retail buy-on-board proposition called the eatery. We have had a long standing partnership with LSG Sky Chefs and we are pleased that they have demonstrated their agility by adapting their operation to deliver a high quality but cost effective solution for our aircraft catering and logistics requirements for the next three years.”

“I am pleased that LSG Sky Chefs innovative approach of a new service concept has strengthened our partnership with Thomson Airways,” said Silvio Canettoli, Regional Chief Operating Officer Europe at LSG Sky Chefs. “This contract extension is a great compliment to us and we will certainly continue to foster this relationship in future.”

Thomson Airways and LSG Sky Chefs will continue to build on their partnership and explore further business opportunities.
