Norduyn and LSG Sky Chefs sign partnership agreement

Joint development and commercialization of new thermo-lightweight trolleys

Montreal, Canada/ Neu-Isenburg, Germany — LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s leading provider of integrated in-flight services, together with Norduyn, a designer and manufacturer of innovative galley and cabin product solutions for commercial aviation, have entered a partnership agreement for the development and commercialization of lightweight thermally efficient trolleys.

Two years ago, Norduyn identified the need to develop a new type of galley cart which was lighter, better insulated, sturdier, easy to track and trace and comprised fewer moving parts in order to optimize in-service time. “As we work with over 300 airlines around the globe in all areas of in-flight service, we soon saw the need for lighter equipment options. We scoured the market for a capable and experienced partner to develop light-weight trolleys and found this expertise in Norduyn” said Stefan Hubert, Managing Director of LSG Sky Chefs Catering Logistics.

The agreement between Norduyn and LSG Sky Chefs includes finalizing design to meet market requirements as well as the joint-commercialization and development of worldwide markets. Norduyn estimates there are over 840,000 trolleys currently in use that will need replacing over the next eight to 10 years. “Through the valued partnership with LSG Sky Chefs, we benefit from their extensive experience and insight in the business of managing over 66,000 galley carts for customers around the world” commented Mathieu Boivin, Norduyn’s CEO.
