Qatar Airways Returns to LSG Sky Chefs
Neu-Isenburg – LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest provider of in-flight services, announced today that it has re-gained Qatar Airways as its customer at London-Gatwick (LGW) and London-Heathrow (LHR) airports. While LSG Sky Chefs already re-started catering the airline in LGW in late August, uplifts in LHR will commence on October 14. Qatar operates one daily flight from LGW to Doha and four daily flights from LHR to Doha with A340/A330 aircraft.
LSG Sky Chefs recently also won the Qatar business in Houston, with services starting for one daily B777 flight in December.
"These business wins clearly underline our competitive advantage, mainly in the London market but also around the globe," comments Erdmann Rauer, SVP Sales and Marketing at LSG Sky Chefs. "We are the leading provider for Qatar airways in our domain and roughly every third meal on all Qatar flights – except those leaving from Doha – is catered by LSG Sky Chefs. We are particularly proud that this highly demanding customer returns to us in locations where competition is extremely aggressive," he concludes.
Qatar Airways has undergone a phenomenal period of expansion with an average 35-percent growth year-on-year for the past 10 years. Boasting a young and fuelefficient fleet, currently consisting of 62 planes, the carrier has ongoing orders for more than 200 new aircraft.
