LSG Sky Chefs starts operations at two new Chinese locations

Neu-Isenburg, Germany – LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest provider of in-flight services, announced today that it established services at two new joint venture facilities at the airports of Lanzhou and Urumqi, in northwestern China. Both of these are joint ventures with Hainan Airlines Group (“HNA Group”), in which LSG Sky Chefs holds 49 percent.

Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport (LHW), the hub of the Gansu province, serves approximately 2.6 million passengers per year flying to Chinese as well as international destinations like Japan and Singapore. The LSG Sky Chefs customer service center covers an area of 2,000 square meters and currently serves nine airlines: Hainan Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Air China, Sichuan Airlines, Shandong Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Lucky Air and Deer Jet. Ninety one employees produce an average of 2,600 meals per day for 25 flights departing LHW.

Urumqi International Airport (URC) is a regional hub and a major Chinese crossroad connecting west China with more than 700 flights to 53 destinations in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. LSG Sky Chefs facility has a size of 2,600 square meters from where 72 employees serve Hainan Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, Deer Jet and Lucky Air. They produce an average of 2,000 meals a day for 20 flights out of URC.

“Our long and trusting cooperation with HNA Group is the foundation of these two brand new facilities,” said HK Cheung, LSG Sky Chefs Chief Operating Officer for the Asia/Pacific region. “It has continuously grown since our first common joint venture in Sanya, Hainan in 2003.”
