Sale of LSG-Airport Gastronomiegesellschaft mbH completed

Neu-Isenburg – LSG Sky Chefs announced today that the sale of LSG-Airport Gastronomiegesellschaft mbH (LAG) to SSP Deutschland GmbH (SSP) in Germany has been successfully completed after the required approval process. LAG operates 34 restaurants at five German airports.

Airport restaurants are part of SSP’s core activities. In Germany, however, the company has a minor presence in this business segment. Due to its strategic direction and its global strength, SSP has access to an international portfolio of brands and is thus well equipped and prepared to invest in the airport restaurant business and in the development of its employees.

Prior to this sale, LSG Sky Chefs’ German lounge business was carved out of LAG and transferred to a new subsidiary, named LSG Sky Chefs Lounge GmbH. The new subsidiary will pursue LSG Sky Chefs’ international expansion strategy in the lounge business under the leadership of its managing director, Thomas Grieser.

LSG Sky Chefs is the world’s largest provider of in-flight services. These include catering, in-flight equipment and logistics, in-flight retail as well as the management of onboard and related airport services. LSG Sky Chefs partners with more than 300 airlines worldwide and operates some 200 customer service centers in 52 countries, producing around 490 million airline meals a year. In 2011, the companies belonging to LSG Sky Chefs Group achieved consolidated revenues of € 2.3 billion.
