LSG Sky Chefs unveils new customer service centre at Birmingham
Birmingham – In-flight services provider LSG Sky Chefs officially opened its new Birmingham customer service centre today in a move that brings all of its operations in the city under a single roof.
Managers at the 18,000-square-foot building – on Gateway Industrial Estate just outside of the airport – invited clients and dignitaries to witness the launch of the sparkling new facility which was opened by Mr Thomas Nagel, LSG Sky Chefs’ Chief Operating Officer.
Mr Nagel said: “Today’s opening is very important for LSG Sky Chefs, which is represented at locations across the UK. Birmingham is a growing market and for us to be a network supplier we need a strong presence in this city.
“With this new unit we have the capacity to be even more competitive and to show our customers that we can exceed their expectations on quality and pricing.”
Annette Jenkinson, LSG Sky Chefs’ Director for the North, said: “The past few months have been a time of considerable change for our flight catering operation in Birmingham. The move from old to new premises has taken place over the past two months and all of the team are to be congratulated on their combined efforts to ensure a smooth transition.
“It has been a fantastic achievement that service levels to our customers have been maintained to the same extremely high standards throughout the work. This has been an excellent team effort.”
The Birmingham customer service centre employs 60 staff, rising to more than 100 during the summer peak. The unit caters for airline carriers such as First Choice, Thomsonfly, Air India and Air France, plus contracts for private jets and smaller aircrafts and currently services 90 flights each week. Ultimately, it has capacity to supply up to 40,000 meals each week.
In the United Kingdom LSG Sky Chefs provides an entire range of in-flight services including supplying more than 22.5 million meals each year to over 103,000 flights from locations that include London-Heathrow, London-Gatwick, London-Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, East Midlands and Doncaster.
