Quantum Lightweight Trolley

Weighs Less. Saves More.

Quantum, a new line of thermal lightweight trolleys, enables airlines to reduce both costs and their carbon footprint. Quantum has been jointly developed as part of a unique partnership:

LSG Sky Chefs: Drawing on practical experience in airline catering, crew handling and the management of over 60,000 trolleys for major airlines worldwide
Norduyn: Applying technology and production capabilities

Quantum's design has been finely tuned to meet the daily needs of airlines and their crews. At the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2010 in Hamburg, Quantum was awarded with the Crystal Cabin Award in the category 'Greener Cabin, Health and Safety'.

Have a look at an example of how much an airline can save by introducing Quantum:

Benefits:

  • Weight Reduction: 40 percent lighter than traditional aluminum-frame trolleys
  • Environmental Efficiency: reduced fuel-burn and a smaller environmental footprint
  • High insulating properties: requiring far less dry ice
  • Good Durability: the single body shell offers a durable and impact resistant structure
  • Less Maintenance: inventory and maintenance costs reduced through a design with significantly fewer parts
  • Improved Fleet Management: fitted with RFID chips, which deliver better results than bar-coding
  • Fast Return on Investment: within three years due to weight/fuel savings

Made to Measure
The design and production concept of Quantum is set up to meet individual airline needs. The trolleys can therefore be adjusted according to airline specifications, for example the features, colors and branding.

Quantum Onboard
Quantum has been in use in tests onboard since May 2010, with very positive feedback from crews. Production has begun with the ATLAS half-size and full-size trolleys, and further models will be added to the series in 2011.
