LSG Sky Chefs wins five-year Heathrow contract with Continental
London - LSG Sky Chefs has been awarded a five-year long contract to provide inflight catering service on flights out of London-Heathrow for U.S carrier Continental Airlines.
Continental Airlines launches twice-daily flights from Heathrow to New York and Houston beginning March 30 following the 'Open Skies' agreement between the United States and the European Union.
Until now the Continental route into London has been through London-Gatwick and those flights will continue along with the airline's routes to other UK destinations.
The contract involves catering four wide-bodied aircraft, Boeing 777s and Boeing 767s, each day and supplying more than 80,000 meals annually to passengers in BusinessFirst and Economy classes.
Dale Easdon, LSG Sky Chefs' Chief Operating Officer in the UK, said: "Continental is a major player in the industry and I’m delighted LSG Sky Chefs has been given the opportunity to work with the airline here in the UK. It is a significant boost to our operation at Heathrow and hugely motivating to everyone – in sales, in operations and to our colleagues in the US who work so closely with Continental."
"Continental is looking forward to operating out of London-Heathrow Airport and expanding our global presence," said Jane Bernier-Tran, Continental Food Services Senior Director of Planning and Operational Excellence.
Continental Airlines, the world's fifth largest airline, has more than 2,900 daily departures throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia, serving 144 domestic and 139 international destinations.
