China Eastern Deal Adds to Asian Successes for LSG Sky Chefs

Category: 2007

LSG Sky Chefs has been awarded a contract to service flights operated between London-Heathrow and Shanghai by China Eastern Airlines, marking the company's fourth major agreement with an Asian carrier within just three months.

Under the latest deal that comes into effect on March 1. 2007, LSG Sky Chefs will supply meals to four flights a week departing from Heathrow involving the supply of around 125,000 meals annually. The deal marks the continuation of a series of successes: In late November the company was contracted to supply 475,000 meals annually to Singapore Airlines, with agreements announced in January to provide 330,000 meals annually to Thai Airways and 63,000 meals annually to Asiana Airlines.

This agreement with China Eastern Airlines reflects the extremely high standards of service offered by LSG Sky Chefs, coupled with an unrivalled commitment to customer care and attention to detail. As part of the agreement, the company will be appointing a Chinese-speaking team to service the account. With their support, LSG Sky Chefs London-Heathrow will offer the most authentic dining experience to China Eastern Airlines' passengers and serve the very best, specialized in-house-produced cuisine.

Dale Easdon, LSG Sky Chefs' Regional Chief Operating Officer UK, said: "This is yet another outstanding achievement for our London-Heathrow Customer Service Centre and is a further boost to our entire UK operations - underpinning our market-leading position in the industry."

China Eastern Airlines began operating its direct service between London and Shanghai in early 2004. Transfer services operate from Shanghai to a range of international destinations including Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Delhi and Bangkok. Domestic routes operated from Shanghai include flights to Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
