Start-up for LSG Sky Chefs as first International Caterer on the Indian Market
Kriftel, Germany - With today''s opening of a new unit in Bangalore, South India, LSG Sky Chefs enters a market with considerable growth potential. The new catering facility is based on a recent joint venture with an Indian partner called Mars Restaurant Group Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai (former Bombay). Mars Restaurant Group is a restaurant chain with numerous outlets all over India including a newly opened hotel in Mumbai.
Bangalore is home to numerous IT-companies and is considered to be the IT-Center within the Asian region. Due to enormous growth expectations in this industry, passenger volume at Bangalore is expected to rise 30 percent within the next 5 years.
The new Customer Service Center will be operated under the legal entity of "LSG Sky Chefs India Pvt. Ltd." which is owned 85 percent by LSG Sky Chefs and 15 percent by the Mars Restaurant Group.
"A truly state-of-the-art unit has been built in record time", says General Manager Mr. Anup Sahu. The entire building process for the 1,000 sqm. catering facility was coordinated by specialists from Mars Restaurant Group and LSG Sky Chefs staff from Bangkok and Hong Kong.
LSG Sky Chefs has a global market share of over 30 percent in airline catering and employs about 41,700 staff members worldwide. More than 260 international airlines are being served from over 200 locations in 44 countries.
The first customer to be catered will be Lufthansa with three weekly return flights to Frankfurt, Germany.
